Here we have the very latest version of the ever popular children’s “My First 5 in 1 Activity Cube” from EverEarth and, as early learning wooden activity toys go, this one’s very special…
It’s difficult to imagine quite how EverEarth could have improved upon their original concept of this fabulous toy – it has been hugely popular and already boasted a host of interactive features each carefully designed to entertain and stimulate active, educational pre-school play in kids from the age of 18 months. This latest design is, however, even better.![]()
Gone is the play clock feature of the previous version and, if we’re honest, that was probably the only detail of the original that we found a little disappointing. Yes – a play clock is a great traditional, and educational, toy for any child but the tacky plastic hands on the earlier cube didn’t sit comfortably with the overall high quality and tactile feel of what is, essentially, a beautiful children’s wooden toy.
The clock is replaced by a superb wooden, rotating shape sorter wheel that engages a child in matching both colours and shapes, this is perfect for improving their eye-hand coordination as they handle the individual wooden blocks and line them up in the appropriate sockets.
The other interactive features are very much as before aside from the smiley faced Elephant, on the wooden flip blocks, who has been replace with an equally happy looking Zebra!
There’s still the the colourful sliding beads abacus, the very clever sliding peg board maze and of course the fantastic wire bead top that’ll keep kids amused for hours and promote imaginative play.
All in all this really is an inspirational toy. The bright vibrant colours contrast well with the clean, light, natural wood finish of many of the components, giving it a bright contemporary feel when compared with the activity cubes from other manufacturers.
EverEarth really is a company with impressive eco-credentials and an incredible sense of social responsibility throughout the manufacturing, packaging and function of their products. They continue to use only FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) accredited sustainable timber supplies and water based paints in their production and their award winning designs are tested to the most rigorous safety standards in pursuit of their tagline – “Green Today, Here Tomorrow”.
